That’s shortest answer to the question why do we laugh? But what makes us happy? Ah, well now your asking. If you’re a baby then lots of things make you happy but as we get older we lose a little of that magic.
Thus friday my university, Birkbeck, are having a free screening of documentary that explores the magic of happiness in a bit more detail.
What makes you happy? Your family? Your work? Do you live in a world that values and promotes happiness and well-being?
Happy: The Movie sets out to answer these questions and more. Taking us from the bayous of Louisiana to the deserts of Namibia, from the beaches of Brazil to the villages of Okinawa, HAPPY explores the secrets behind our most valued emotion.
The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Birkbeck lecturers David Tross and Amy Harrison.
This free event is part of Birkbeck’s Well-Being Workshops project, a series of workshops in workplace and community venues designed to help you better understand the science behind the smile. Book your place, or find out more at www.bbk.ac.uk/tryit.
Sadly, I can’t make it on friday. But I’m ordering my own copy right away.
